US 60 Phoenix - Wickenburg Highway

Project underway to enhance traffic flow

Construction to begin November 17

The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) will improve safety and traffic flow on the US 60 (Phoenix-Wickenburg Highway) by widening a section of the roadway and building other improvements. The project, which was awarded to S.J. Louis Construction, will begin soon and be completed by summer of 2009. Improvements include:

  • Adding a center lane from milepost 112.77, where the existing divided
highway ends, to milepost 111.13 by Sunrise Chevrolet.
  • Milling and replacing pavement from milepost 111.13 by Sunrise Chevrolet
to milepost 110.66, tying into the current Wickenburg interim
bypass project near Jack Burden Road. For more information on the
    bypass project, please visit www.azdot.gov/prescottprojects.
  • Installing curbs and gutters.
  • Extending water and sewer mains on the west side of US 60 from Sunrise
    Chevrolet to the Wickenburg Inn.
  • Improvements to the ADOT maintenance facility on the east side of US 60.

Additionally, the town of Wickenburg will construct a new sewer lift station on the west side of US 60 at Calamity Wash.

Drivers are encouraged to give themselves extra travel time and to be prepared to slow down approaching the work zone. While ADOT strives to inform the public about planned roadway restrictions, during any complex construction project, there is a possibility that unscheduled closures or restrictions may occur. Please visit ADOT’s Travel Information Web site www.az511.gov for the most current information about planned restrictions in the area.
