US 93 Cottonwood Canyon - Bridle Creek

Scope:

Construct parallel roadway to create four-lane divided highway. This is the last of the nine projects in the section from Wikieup to Santa Maria River. It one of the more challenging from an earthwork perspective, due to the vast amount of rock to be blasted and moved. The location, between high rock slopes on the east side, and a canyon on the west, will be a challenge. Another challenge will be to maintain safety for motorists on the present highway, while work is underway.

This project is not advertised yet.

Expected Challenges on the project include:

  • Extreme summer temperatures
  • Remote location
  • Intermittent coverage of the area by radio or cell phones
  • Rocky terrain
